What is Panchakarma?

It is an ancient Ayurvedic therapy practiced for generations to promote well-being. Panchakarma is a set of five therapeutic treatments used in Ayurveda for detoxifying the body, strengthening immunity, and restoring balance. The Ayurvedic practice is often used as a preparatory or curative process.

  • Vamana – Therapeutic vomiting to remove toxins from the stomach

  • Virechana – Purgation to cleanse the intestines and liver

  • Basti – Medicated enema to detoxify the colon

  • Nasya – Nasal administration of medication to clear sinuses and improve mental clarity

  • Raktamokshana – Bloodletting to remove impurities from the bloodstream (used selectively)

At Yoganandham Yoga School and Ayurvedic Wellness Centre, Panchakarma therapy is customized per individual’s condition and performed under the supervision of our experienced Ayurvedic practitioners in ancient ways as mentioned in our Vedas.

Assessment and Customization

We start our Ayurvedic treatment by conducting an assessment that consists of the patient’s medical history, physical examination, and evaluation of dosha (constitution). Based on this assessment, our experienced doctors design a customized treatment plan that may include one or more of the five Panchakarma treatments, as well as additional Ayurvedic therapies such as Shirodhara (oil pouring on the forehead), Snehan (therapeutic massage), and Swedana (herbal steam therapy).
